The story itself is as \nmonumental as it is simple. A highly educated doctor (Wolfram von \nBodecker) is \u201etoo old to just play\u201c and \u201etoo young to be without \nambition\u201c. He sways between hubris and desperation, accuses destiny and \ninvokes demons. His grief is marked by generic humor. In an obscure play\n between God (Rainer K\u00f6nig) and the Devil (Alexander Neander), Faust has\n to lose nothing less but his soul. While everybody on stage is \nexcessively mocking and dancing around, loosing oneself in clownish \nfinesse, the well-known story continues almost unnoticed, but with an \nunbroken strength. Faust signs the pact with the Devil, mingles with the\n crowd, is rejuvenated and falls in love, gets entangled in murder and \noblivion, hides out in the mountains and becomes chastened in the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stage director Tom Quaas and the actors\n outstandingly manage to combine an artificial way of acting with a very\n human and translucently fragile representation of the characters. \nIndeed, there is not a single spoken word necessary to make the small \nand big conflicts of the characters perceptible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea was born when Tom Quaas, \ninventor and initiator, director and mental father of this dreamy \nconstruct, left the Dresden State Theatre in order to study clownery and\n pantomime at the famous French college \u201eCentre National des Arts du \nCirque\u201c. Back home, he fulfilled his lifelong dream. He gathered a group\n of dancers and puppeteers, mimes and singers around him and confronted \nthe Dresden audience with a rather uncommon style of theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color
